Assignment/Transfer Policy | Effective: 03AUG2011 | Revised: 03AUG2011

Upon joining the Colonial Defense Forces, members are assigned to the chapter geographically nearest to them, unless they request to be assigned to a specific chapter in their application.

Generally, members will be eligible to transfer only every 6 months.

Members who do not elect assignment to a specific chapter at the time of joining, are allowed to transfer once, to the chapter of their choosing within six(6) months of joining the Colonial Defense Forces.

Transfer Procedure:
1) Contact your current CO and inform them of your desire to transfer, and have them contact Fleet Communications with their approval or denial and reasons for same.
2) Contact the CO of the chapter you wish to transfer to and inform them of your desire to transfer, and have them contact Fleet Communications with their approval or denial and reasons for same.
3) Contact Fleet Communications to inform them of your current chapter name and position and your desired chapter name and position.
4) Wait for Fleet Communications to confirm that both chapter CO's have been notified, verify your eligibility to transfer, to approve and record, or deny your transfer.

If your transfer is denied, Fleet Communications will contact you and both CO's involved with any reasons, and possible suggestions as to how to overcome the reasons for denial.

Newly Launched Chapters (NLC's):
There are two(2) kinds of NLC's. Newly Launched Chapter-Internal (NLCI) and Newly Launched Chapter-External (NLCE). NLCI's are made up of crew already members of the CDF, NLCE's are made up of crew coming into the CDF.

NLCE's: must meet the minimum requirements for senior staffing prior to being commissioned.

NLCI's: All officers and crew wishing to form an NLCI, must meet the six(6) month service requirement to be eligible to transfer to the NLCI. NLCI's must also meet the minimum crew requirements prior to commissioning.

All transfer requests are processed and handled by Fleet Communications, launching of all chapters are handled by Fleet Operations. If you are launching an NLCE or an NLCI, you will need to confer with Fleet Communications to verify staffing and eligibility requirements are met before contacting Fleet Operations concerning commissioning and issuing of a registry number.

FYI;

For those that noticed that I failed to list the rank of Admiral in the list under Time In Grade requirements.

To clarify, there is no minimum Time In Grade requirement for the rank of Admiral. The reason why is simple, there is no rank above Admiral. The rank of Fleet Admiral is a positional or billet rank that applies only to Commander, CDF and is dependent and applicable only during the period that the member holds that position. Therefor it is not an obtainable rank, and therefor no prerequisite exists.

Example;
A person shall be known as FAdm during the time period that he or she actively commands the Colonial Defense Forces. Once that member steps down from that position, they revert back to their previous rank held prior to attaining that position.

Board of Directors - Chain of Succession |  Effective: 01AUG2011 | Revised: 01AUG2011

The Board of Directors (BoD) is the independent, legal, governing body of the Colonial Defense Forces Corporation.

The BoD consists of 4 members and is self selecting.

Positions;
Executive Director (Executive Authority)
Director (Secretary)
Director (Operations)
Director (Communications)

Any member of the BoD in good standing is empowered to name their own successor, which must be confirmed by majority vote of the remaining Board members.
If the departing members nominations are voted down three(3) times, all remaining BoD members shall advance one position and it shall fall to the remaining BoD members to select the replacement for the now open position.

If any member of the Board is not in good standing or is being removed for cause, all remaining members of the board shall advance one position. The departing member shall have one(1) nomination for the now open position. If that nomination is voted down, it shall fall to the remaining BoD members to select the replacement for the now open position.

Notes;
The Board of Directors is separate from the Octagon. The Octagon is the "fandom" leadership of the Colonial Defense Forces, the BoD is the real world "legal" leadership of the Colonial Defense Forces Corporation.
Inclusion in the Octagon, does not automatically convey inclusion in the BoD or vice versa.
